Do you ever wonder how your choices today will affect your health in the future? Learners participating in this project based, interactive, 6-week mini-course will examine their current health status using authentic assessments. Students will reflect on their results and create a personalized health survey and plan based on their own definition of "healthy." Diploma students completing this course can earn a half-credit health or elective credit. Co-taught by Trudy Martin and Phil Wormuth.

HiSET or Accuplacer Math Class

If you are planning to go to college in the Summer or Fall you will need to take the Accuplacer Test for college placement.  This class is designed to help you prepare for the test and/or increase your scores so that you are admitted into a College Algebra class.

If you score at the college-level on your HISET math test you may waive the Accuplacer Math requirement for your local community college.

 

You may take the Accuplacer test at a local adult education program or at SMCC

A blended learning class combining face-to-face classroom sessions with online learning assignments and interaction.  This course will focus on the essential skills of a successful college student which will include study skills, time management, decision-making strategies, financial literacy, career pathways exploration and academic readiness. The class fulfills a required college graduation credit at both Central and Southern Maine Community Colleges.

FREE Cooking Class Series

Learn how to prepare healthy, delicious meals & stretch your food dollars with ease!

This no-cost, 6-session cooking class is offered in partnership with Healthy Acadia. The series offers participants an opportunity to learn about easy ways to prepare healthy, family-friendly, delicious meals and stretchfood dollars. Participants work together to create a meal each week and sample their recipe. Free take-home ingredients will be provided for all participants.

This series is designed for community members who want to gain knowledge and skills to eat healthy food on a limited budget. Participants are requested to commit to all six classes in the series. Can be taken for high school completion credit. Recovery-friendly class.

This course will assist students to develop the skills necessary to be successful in their life and careers. The class will cover topics in a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere. The class will be offered in three modules. Students may take one or all three modules. Each module will meet once a week for five sessions and is independent of the other modules. This allows students to take one or more of the modules over the course of the semester. Each completed module earns a student one-third credit towards a high school diploma. Community members are always welcome and encouraged. No class Feb. 17, and Apr. 20.

Learn the basics of MS Excel. We will cut, copy, paste, become familiar with fonts, format cells, merge and center, learn number formatting, auto sum, sort and filter charts, learn functions and formulas, hide columns/rows, split, freeze panes, and much more! We will also look at compatibility with other MS Office Suite products. Students will need to bring a thumb drive to class. Limit 12 students.
