Darling Needle Felted Animals

Calendar Apr 4, 2019 at 6 pm, runs for 2 weeks

In this two-evening class each participant will make one or more cozy soft small mammals or birds of their choice out of wool and use the needle felting method to create the features of their new friend. In the past, popular choices were bears, penguins and ducks. 

A material fee of $10 (included in the cost) covers all wool and armature materials, plus one felting needle. You may create a treasured gift or something to keep for yourself.  No experience required! Bring your glasses if you wear them for close vision. Young people aged 12 and up may attend with an adult. Class size is limited.

Debra Arter holds a MA in Fine Art and has been teaching adults various art processes for many years. She has worked on her needle felting projects even while on an airplane!

Bring your significant other out on a unique date night and learn something new together.  You will explore one fun and easy beginner level project.  You'll have the opportunity to throw clay on the potter's wheel and also learn to hand-build functional forms.  Decorate and glaze your clay pieces at the end of class before they are fired.  All experience levels welcome.  Materials fee of $12 (cash) payable to the instructor at class.

Join us for a fun packed day in Boston and a visit to the New England Aquarium. At the aquarium, you can explore coral reefs, experience a rain forest, meet a variety of creatures and even attend a movie in the IMAX Theater. Your day includes time to enjoy the shopping and eating opportunities at Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. Depart in relaxation on a Cyr Bus motor coach from the Waterville Senior High School back parking lot at 7:30 a.m. or from the West Gardiner Service Plaza at 8:00 a.m. while enjoying a family-friendly movie. Stop for a brief breakfast and bathroom break in Kennebunk before arriving at the aquarium around 11:30 a.m. Spend as much time as you want at the aquarium and/or walk to nearby locations for shopping and eating. The bus will pick you up at the aquarium at 5:00 p.m. On the way home, we will feature another family-friendly movie. After a stop at the Kennebunk Rest Area you will arrive home at approximately 8:30-9:00 p.m. (If you do not want to hear the movie it is recommended that you bring noise cancelling headsets.) Your registration fee includes transportation to and from Boston and general admission to the aquarium. Special event tickets, IMAX tickets, and meals are not included. Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine Workshops NEW!

David Greenham, associate director of the Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine will present two HHRC programs: Decision Making in Times of Injustice and The Message Matters. Both programs use the story and history of the events leading up to the Nazi Holocaust to examine and consider the role of those who watched. This two evening program will also help participants to recognize and consider their role in the current divisiveness in America.

2 Wednesdays, 6:30-8 pm

Dates: March 13 & April 10, 2019

Location: MCHS

Registration: $15 (Proceeds from these workshops help support the Holocaust Center)
