B.A.S.I.C.

B.A.S.I.C is an acronym for Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages, Alcohol, Seller/Server, Informational, Course.
The course is taught by an experienced, state licensed Liquor Inspector. The mission of B.A.S.I.C is to promote responsible sales, encourage responsible consumption, and prohibit the sales of alcohol to minors. We encourage parents to talk to children about the dangers of the use of alcohol and we provide tools to our licensed agency liquor store partners to prevent the sales of alcohol to minors. This course will help you become a responsible seller/server with the skills to be successful and comfortable dealing with challenges and prepare you to thrive while protecting the most vulnerable in our communities. There is a pre-test and a post-test, and successful completion will award you a three year B.A.S.I.C certification.

Gourd Baskets with Pine Needle Rims

Whether you're looking for the perfect gift or something to keep for yourself, this workshop is sure to satisfy your crafting desires. Our gourds come pre-cut, so all you need to do is roll up your sleeves and let your creativity flow. Students will delve into the process of cleaning, sanding, and drilling holes in the gourds, before meticulously sewing white pine needles to the rim. To add a personal touch, a selection of stains will be provided, allowing you to choose the perfect finish for your one-of-a-kind creation. Alongside the gourd basket making, this class will also cover the basics of crafting pine needle baskets, giving you the opportunity to learn yet another timeless skill. Rest assured, the course covers all the materials and tools needed, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience throughout. Expand your skillset and embark on a journey of artistic expression with our gourd basket making class - a truly valuable skill for life.

Join us in crafting a vibrant butterfly-shaped mosaic stepping stone, where your creativity knows no bounds. Bring along your own special pieces to add that extra touch of personal flair. The instructor will provide all the essentials, including molds, mortar, glass stones, and sea shells. Let’s turn this crafting session into a mosaic masterpiece – a whimsical blend of imagination and bling awaits! Please bring your own acrylic paints, brushes, 2-part resin kit and a box of disposable gloves.
How to Cast a Fly Rod—The first step to fly fishing

Learn the fundamentals of casting on a one-to-one basis. Beginners to advanced casters will learn or improve the basic cast, roll cast, and mends. In addition, you will learn line management, casting in wind, hauling, and other useful tasks. Take advantage of a certified casting instructor to assist you with any casting problems. If you have an interest in being certified yourself, I can offer advice with that process.
This class will be held OUTDOORS on the Skowhegan High School premises. Bring a 4-7 wt. fly rod with a floating line. Instructor will provide a leader with a practice fly. DRESS FOR OUTDOOR PRACTICE. Dates of class can be flexible if weather conditions prevent a class.

Modern Line Dancing for Beginners
with George Oliver, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education

We'll learn some easy line dances that use a variety of steps, including pop, Latin, hiphop, soul, and country/western. Be prepared for wicked, synchronized dancing fun, and get great exercise for the body and mind. All ages welcome (18+ only); no experience necessary, but some ability to count musical beats is helpful.

Yoga & Meditation ONLINE for SUMMER

This three week online course will set you up for the summer season. Enjoy flexibility for mind and body with yoga and Taking in the Good Meditations. Recieve benefits of self-compassion and strength in body and mind.
Led by a certified meditation teacher, licensed massage therapist and certified Ayurvedic practitioner. Life is good!
