with Woodfords Family Services, Massabesic Adult and Community Education

Start Anytime! We are pleased to connect our community with Woodfords Family Service for this exceptional ONLINE training program. This training will prepare you to help children who are currently on a wait list for services and will prepare you for employment through local social service agencies. This program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace. In this course you will complete 12 online modules and three 4-hour live sessions. Once the modules are completed, you will receive the online blood borne pathogen training and Child and Adult First Aid & CPR certification. In just 40 hours, the remote training program can get you certified and on your way to a life changing profession.

Required: Copy of High School Diploma or equivalent. You must be a Maine resident and at least 18 years old to take this course. We will send you the BHP registration form to fill out and return to us in order to start the program.

Biology

This is a high school level Biology class delivered through an online platform. The course can be taken to meet postsecondary prerequisite requirements. This is a hybrid course with online instruction and independent work combined with the opportunity for individual help sessions. The instructor will be available via zoom, in person tutoring and email. The course must be completed in 14 weeks and has open enrollment throughout the entire year. For any and all students who are prepping for Nursing or Medical Laboratory Technology admissions review, this is an excellent opportunity to meet the admissions “Biology with lab” prerequisite. If you have been away from science courses for a while, this course is recommended to prep you for rigorous college science classes. Students who successfully complete this class will earn 1 high school credit. Spring semester.

The scores from the CASAS are used to guide your placement into courses at the level that is perfect for you. 

Spruce Mountain Adult Education offers both paper-and-pencil and computer-delivered assessments. 

A $10 fee will be charged for testing.  If a student enrolls in our program, the fee will be waived.

This is a high school level Chemistry class delivered through an online platform. The course can be taken to meet postsecondary prerequisite requirements. Topics: Atomic Structure, Compound Formation and Stoichiometry.

For any and all students who are prepping for Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology or other competitive majors, this is an excellent opportunity to meet the admissions "Chemistry with lab" prerequisite. If you have been away from science courses for a while, this course is recommended to prep you for rigorous college science classes. Students who successfully complete this class will earn 1 high school credit. It will be offered entirely online, with required weekly review sessions conducted via Zoom. This course is provided at no cost to students through the Maine College and Career Access Services grant and RSU13 Adult & Community Education.

A required instructional period will be Mondays from 7:30-8:30pm on Zoom. An additional Zoom review session will be offered each week. Students are required to attend these sessions. If a student is unable to attend this session, they must communicate with the course instructor.

  This class is available for students enrolled in an Adult Education high school completion program, or post-secondary students who are enrolled or plan to enroll in a college or career training program within 18 months. At this time, it is not intended as a credit recovery program for currently enrolled high school students in the K-12 system.

College Prep English

This course is designed to help adults improve their writing, proofreading, editing, and revising to prepare for the general expectations of college English and college writing.  We will cover the basics of grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, paragraph development, and will eventually write effective essays with clear ideas, smooth transitions, and logical support.  We will practice planning, research, prewriting, and organizing our writing.  We will learn to write different types of essays, to properly format them, to cite sources, and to avoid plagiarism. Learning to proofread for punctuation, usage, content, and support will be emphasized.
